What Are The 4 Types of Medicare?
If you are just entering the world of Medicare, you need to know where to start. First, you need to understand what the four types of Medicare are. Once you understand each type, you’ll be able to decide which is the best coverage for you.
The first type is called Medicare Part A. This typically covers inpatient hospital care, hospice, skilled nursing, home health and more.
The second type is called Medicare Part B. This typically covers doctor’s visits, outpatient services, home health, laboratory services, medical equipment, ER visits, preventative services and more.
The third type is called Medicare Part C. Is like a typical health plan where you have a network of doctors you can see. This option often has lower copays and deductibles; and may even include prescription drug coverage.
The fourth type is called Medicare Part D. This plan covers prescription drug costs and is offered by private insurance companies.
The great thing about the four types is that you can choose one or several at a time. There are also options with Part C that will cover prescription drug costs. You become eligible to sign up for Part A and Part B three months before you turn 65. This helps you put together a timeline of when you can begin your research to decide which plan or plans are best for you.
