3 Types of Long Term Care Services
Did you know that your health insurance nor Medicare will pay for your long-term care services if you need them? You’ll need long term care services insurance if you develop a chronic illness or become disabled and can no longer care for yourself. If you are thinking about investing, here are three types to consider:
- Traditional long term care insurance: this is traditionally a stand-alone policy that exclusively covers long term care expenses in your home or facility
- Hybrid long term care insurance: this insurance is also known as linked benefits or combo policies pair long term with life insurance or an annuity. A hybrid policy provides coverage for care in your home or facility along with a death benefit. If you find that you need a long-term care policy, your family and loved ones will benefit from the life insurance policy after you pass.
- Life insurance with a long-term care rider: some life insurance policies will allow you to add a rider to your current policy, via a rider. A long-term care rider lets you use of some of the life insurance policy death benefits to pay for long term care needs while you are alive.
The best long term insurance policy depends on your needs and what you think your future need will be. If your health isn’t great, you may want to consider a long-term care policy.
